About the Role
The National Association for Athletes' Mental Health (NAAMH) is dedicated to advocating for and supporting the mental well-being of athletes at all levels. We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Volunteer Research Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in conducting research studies and supporting various departments with research needs to further our mission.
As a Volunteer Research Specialist, you will play a critical role in designing and conducting research studies, analyzing data, and providing valuable insights to inform our programs and advocacy efforts. Your expertise in research methodologies and your ability to collaborate across departments will be crucial in advancing our understanding of athletes' mental health.
Job Function
Research Design: Design and implement research studies to investigate various aspects of athletes' mental health.
Data Collection: Collect, organize, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data from various sources.
Literature Review: Conduct thorough literature reviews to support research projects and provide context for findings.
Report Writing: Prepare detailed research reports, summaries, and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
Department Support: Collaborate with different departments to provide research support, including program development, policy advocacy, and public relations.
Survey Development: Develop and administer surveys and questionnaires to gather data from athletes, coaches, and other stakeholders.
Statistical Analysis: Utilize statistical software and tools to analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions.
Best Practices: Identify and share best practices and evidence-based approaches to support NAAMH’s initiatives and programs.
Ethical Standards: Ensure all research activities adhere to ethical standards and guidelines, including participant confidentiality and informed consent.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, or a related field. Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) preferred.
Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in research, preferably within the mental health or non-profit sector.
Research Methodology: Strong understanding of research methodologies, data collection, and analysis techniques.
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in statistical analysis and the use of software such as SPSS, SAS, or similar tools.
Writing Skills: Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear and comprehensive research reports.
Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with different departments and provide research support as needed.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to present research findings to diverse audiences.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in conducting and reporting research.
Ethical Standards: Commitment to ethical research practices and maintaining confidentiality.
Passion: A genuine passion for mental health advocacy and a commitment to supporting athletes’ mental well-being.
Tech Savvy: Proficiency with research software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office.
Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work both independently and as part of a team.
